What is in an image? What makes one image better than another or one style better than another? Every good image,no, every meaningful image to me has one common trait. They each tell a story. This story is told by the photographer, read by the viewer and its interpretation is subject to the viewer's experiences, mindset and mood. It is like a play that is told to an audience. Each audience member takes away a slightly different piece of the theatrical puzzle even though each person witnessed the exact same play. The human mind is a wondrous thing.br/ br/ This image was taken at the Missionary Baptist Church in Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park took over this ground in 1934 and yet some of this church's membership never left. They are still here, a reminder of the past, the history of this place and the story they are still telling. Many of the people here perished as small children. Yet another reminder of the harsh existence of the people of this time and place.br/ br/ This image is a story of them. It is a story of us. It is a story of all of mankind through all of history. We are born. We live. We love. We die. We want to be remembered and, perhaps, others will want to remember us.br/ br/ It is a story of hope. A hope of a life hereafter and a promise to our children and their children's children. God is love and he sent his Son to die for us that we might believe in him and be eternally secure in the knowledge that we will be with him in paradise.br/ br/ We are born. We will die. If we are blessed, we will be remembered for a while here as well.
